Rainer Bartesch
Alphornist
Rainer Bartesch, born 1964 in Haslach / Bavaria, received three university degrees from the Münchner Hochschule für Musik und Theater, one in French horn, one in high school teaching and one in composing for films and TV. Four years he worked as a professional horn player with the Hessischen and the Niedersächsischen Staatstheater and the Sächsischen Staatskapelle Dresden (under the batton of GMD Giuseppe Sinopoli), before he focussed more on conducting and composing.
He was awarded as composer in two international classical music contests, won the highly endowed Rolf-Hans Müller Preis für Filmmusik (for the best german TV soundtrack in 2009-2010) and the Paradisi-Gloria-Contest für new sacred music of the Bayerische Rundfunk, as well as a few more other awards. He wrote more than 50 unique compositions for alphorn, that are now being performed worldwide and present the alphorn as a musically unlimited solo instrument in classical and crossover concerts.
