Matej Bonin

Matej Bonin

Composer

Slovenian composer Matej Bonin, born 1986 in Koper, graduated in composition at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana. He continued his education at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, majoring in composition-musical theatre. He received a scholarship from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia for his studies abroad.

In 2024 Matej has created a contemporary piece for the Dresdner Sinfoniker project Symphonic Forrest. He has been honoured with several awards for his compositions, including the Under 30 Award for his piece Cancro at the International Rostrum Composers’ Tribune in Tallinn in 2015. In September 2021, the short opera Lunarium, featuring music contributed by Bonin, premiered at the Cologne Opera House.

Matej regularly collaborates with internationally renowned soloists and ensembles all over Europe, and his work often involves collaborations with dance choreographers. In addition to his work as a composer, Bonin serves as an assistant professor of music theory at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana.

Anna Schober

Anna Schober, born in 1982, studied Business Administration and Cultural Management in Germany and International Relations and Communications in Mexico City. During her studies, she participated in the organization of significant corporate and public events in Mexico, Canada and Germany. Following her studies and before moving to Mexico in 2007, she organized the first Bosch Kultur Festival showcasing the diverse cultural ensembles and activities of one of the biggest German companies and its employees.

Living in Mexico for over ten years, Anna worked for both the private and the public sectors. She led interdisciplinary and cross-functional projects, including high-level international political, economic and cultural events such as the “2011 Year of Mexico in France” and “Partner Country Mexico” at the Hannover Messe 2018.

Combining the roots of her studies with her passion for perfectly planned events in 2012, Anna founded her agency for (inter)cultural project management, organizing numerous cultural festivals, open-air productions and concerts. Besides working with orchestras to engage conductors and soloists, she also managed tours of international artists, mainly opera singers and classical musicians, such as Joyce DiDonato and Simone Kermes, Penderecki String Quartet and Gewandhaus-Quartett, among many others. In 2017 Anna first worked together with the Dresdner Sinfoniker, coordinating their tour in Mexico and supporting their project “TEAR DOWN THIS WALL“. Since Anna moved back to Germany in 2020, she has helped the Dresdner Sinfoniker with event and project management, international relations, and fundraising.

Hailed by the critics as Monsieur 100,000 Volts, pianist Andreas Boyde’s performances have electrified audiences worldwide. His recitals in renowned concert venues and appearances as soloist with such orchestras as the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden, the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Prague Radio Orchestra, the Dresdner Philharmonie, the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, the Zürich Kammerorchester, the Miami Symphony Orchestra, the Bamberger Symphoniker, the Hallé Orchestra Manchester, the Bolshoi Symphony Orchestra, the Dresdner Sinfoniker, the London Mozart Players, the Berliner Symphoniker and the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra have secured Boyde’s reputation as an esteemed performing artist.

Boyde has concertised internationally in Australia, Austria, Canada, Chile, Croatia, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Holland, Israel, Italy, Malaysia, New Zealand, Norway, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, USA and Vietnam. Venues where he has appeared to acclaim include Berlin Philharmonie, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Royal Festival Hall and Wigmore Hall London, Cologne Philharmonic Hall, Zürich Tonhalle, Munich Herkulessaal, Symphony Hall Birmingham, Munich Philharmonic Hall, Hamburg Musikhalle, Teatro Municipal Santiago de Chile, Leipzig Gewandhaus, Munich Prinzregenten Theatre and Pierpont Morgan Library New York.

The Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester Frankfurt appointed Andreas Boyde Artist in Residence for the season 2018/19.

Boyde recorded the complete solo piano works by Johannes Brahms, produced by OehmsClassics, and the repertoire is now being performed in a cycle. Boyde’s extensive CD recordings receive five-star reviews from leading music magazines, praising his interpretations as “a stroke of genius” (Fono Forum, Germany). He enjoys a close association with German radio, established by frequent broadcasts and productions.

The sought-after pianist’s wide-ranging repertoire encompasses all major areas of the piano literature. Also committed to contemporary music, he gave the European premiere of Paul Schoenfield’s Piano Concerto Four Parables and the first performance of John Pickard’s Piano Concerto, which is dedicated to him. Boyde’s musicological interests are demonstrated in his reconstruction of the ‘Schubert’ Variations by Robert Schumann, now published by Hofmeister Leipzig. It is a work that has enjoyed significant international acclaim since its 2000 premiere in New York by Andreas Boyde at the Pierpont Morgan Library. He is also a Henle Artist and Contributor, as well as a Steinway Artist.

In 2017, Andreas Boyde’s orchestral version of Schumann’s Waldszenen, a modern work of Romanticism, was premiered by the Dresdner Kapellsolisten at the new Kulturpalast Dresden hall and is now being published by Edition Peters. In 2024, the Dresdner Sinfoniker recorded it specifically for their Symphonic Forest project at Rafut Park in Nova Gorica (Slovenia), European Capital of Culture 2025, adding a new dimension to the piece.

Andreas Boyde was born in Oschatz, Germany, where he entered the Book of Honour in 2012. In 2023, he received the Gellert Kunst Preis Award in Germany for outstanding achievements. The pianist studied with Christa Holzweißig and Amadeus Webersinke in Dresden and James Gibb in London at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. His mentor and promoter, Malcolm Frager, also proved a major influence.

Ben Deiß

Benjamin Deiß

Benjamin Deiß, born 1981, studied film production and directing in Hamburg and London from 2000 to 2005. Following his studies, he worked in London for Jeremy Thomas’ renowned production company Recorded Picture Company and the pan-European music channel The Voice TV. In 2007 he returned to Germany and founded his production company bendeiss and the German branch of the global short film festival Future Shorts in Berlin. This was followed by the production of various feature films, including the award-winning ‘Fliegen’ (Berlinale 2008). At the same time he worked as assistant director and dramatic advisor for film and television productions. As managing director and creative director of Future Shorts, he managed and developed the German branch of the global short film festival from 2007 to 2011 and within a short period of time he created a Germany-wide network of short film enthusiasts with monthly screenings in more than 10 cities. In cooperation with interfilm Berlin, this network continues to exist today.

From 2009 to 2010 he continued his education at the prestigious Atelier Ludwigsburg Paris, specialising in the European film market and international co-productions. In 2010 he and Markus Rindt laid the foundation for an intensive collaboration within the framework of the joint project ‘Symphony for Palestine’. In 2012 and 2013, Benjamin increasingly joined the Dresden Symphony Orchestra as managing director and project manager. The orchestra’s strategic development and its focus on European cooperation and financing were intensively pursued by him in the following years. Today, Benjamin focuses on the development of new projects, all design aspects and the cinematic components of the projects. Since 2011 he has been teaching at film universities in Berlin and Hamburg as a freelance lecturer.
